What Concerns Does Radiesse Address?

A Unique Filler for Structure and Rejuvenation

Radiesse is a versatile dermal filler made of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. It offers a unique dual-action benefit. Upon injection, the gel provides immediate volume and correction to smooth away wrinkles and folds. Over time, the CaHA microspheres act as a scaffold, stimulating your body to produce its own new collagen. This process helps to extend the initial volumizing effect and improves skin quality long-term.

  • Smile lines (nasolabial folds)
  • Marionette lines
  • Corners of the mouth
  • Pre-jowl folds
  • Chin wrinkles
  • Volume loss in the back of the hands

The best part? Radiesse provides both immediate satisfaction and long-term improvement, making it a powerful tool for facial and hand rejuvenation.

Combining Radiesse with Other Treatments

Maximize Your Results

Sculptra and Radiesse work differently from traditional fillers, they stimulate your skin's own collagen production over time, rebuilding structure from within. They're most effective when combined with treatments that address immediate concerns while the biostimulator works gradually. Popular combinations include:

  • Dermal FillersUse hyaluronic acid fillers for immediate, precise correction in delicate areas like the lips or under-eyes while biostimulators build longer-term structural support.
  • Neuromodulators (Botox/Dysport)Relax dynamic wrinkles with Botox or Dysport while Sculptra or Radiesse gradually restores the volume and collagen that time has reduced.
  • Morpheus8Combine RF microneedling with biostimulators to enhance collagen production at multiple levels, both superficially and deep within the tissue.
  • PDO ThreadsAdd a thread lift to address tissue laxity while biostimulators work beneath the surface to rebuild the skin's structural foundation.

During your consultation, we'll create a long-term treatment plan that uses the right combination of immediate and gradual approaches to give you natural, lasting results.

Pre-Care & Aftercare

Simple Steps for Best Results

Biostimulators are injectable treatments designed to stimulate your body's own collagen production, improving skin firmness, texture, and volume over time. While the results are gradual and long-lasting, proper aftercare is essential to ensure optimal outcomes and minimize complications.

What to expect

  • Mild redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection sites is normal and typically resolves within a few days.
  • Small lumps or bumps under the skin are common temporarily and typically resolve as the product integrates.
  • Full results develop gradually over 4 to 12 weeks, with best outcomes seen after completing the recommended series of treatments.

Do

  • Apply cold compresses (not ice) for 10 to 15 minutes at a time for the first 24 hours to reduce swelling and bruising.
  • Keep your head elevated when resting or sleeping for the first night.
  • Stay well-hydrated to support collagen synthesis.
  • Use gentle skincare products for the first 48 hours.
  • Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily, especially if treated areas are exposed to the sun.

Avoid

  • Avoid vigorous exercise, heat, or sweating (saunas, hot yoga, steam rooms) for 24 to 48 hours after treatment.
  • Do not touch, press, or massage the treated area (except Sculptra massage as instructed).
  • Avoid alcohol, blood-thinning medications, and supplements (e.g., ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil) for 24 hours to minimize bruising.
  • Do not undergo facials, laser treatments, or skin tightening procedures in the treated area for at least 1 to 2 weeks, unless cleared by your provider.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for at least 1 week after treatment.

Contact us immediately if you experience

  • Signs of infection: redness, warmth, swelling, pus, or pain worsening over time
  • Hard nodules that persist beyond a few weeks
  • Skin blanching (pale or white areas), severe pain, or discoloration
  • Any unusual or concerning reaction

Aftercare by treatment

Massage: 5-5-5 Rule (Sculptra only)

Massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. This helps distribute the product evenly and prevents the formation of nodules. Use a gentle moisturizer or facial oil while massaging to reduce friction.

Radiesse patients

No massage is required unless advised by your provider. If Radiesse was diluted for skin rejuvenation (a.k.a. "Radiesse wash"), light massage may be recommended. Follow your provider's guidance.

Follow-up and results

Sculptra®: results build gradually and typically require 2 to 3 treatment sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Radiesse®: provides immediate volume with ongoing collagen stimulation; maintenance is usually recommended every 12 to 18 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Radiesse Questions, Answered

How long does Radiesse last?

In many patients, the results of Radiesse can last for a year or more, making it one of the longer-lasting fillers on the market.

Is Radiesse a natural filler?

The CaHA microspheres are biocompatible and are naturally broken down and metabolized by your body over time.

Can Radiesse be used in the lips?

No, Radiesse is not recommended for use in the lips. We use hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvéderm® or Restylane® for lip augmentation.

What is the difference between Radiesse and Sculptra?

Radiesse provides immediate volume with its gel carrier and then stimulates collagen. Sculptra provides no immediate fill and works purely by stimulating collagen over several months.

Can Radiesse be dissolved?

No, unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse cannot be dissolved. This makes the choice of an expert injector critically important.

How much does Radiesse cost?

The cost depends on the number of syringes needed to achieve your goals. We will provide a full quote during your consultation.

Pricing

We offer competitive pricing per syringe for Radiesse. We will discuss the optimal amount for your treatment plan during your consultation. Payment plans are available.
